80s French L'Hoir Necklace made of a material often mistakenly assumed is celluloid. Especially hard, Galalith is like wood, it can be sawed, lathe-worked, drilled, milled, glued, polished mechanically or by hand. At the early stage of production, it can be dyed in many colours and given various aspects: ivory, ebony, marble, scales, horn, etc… It cannot be moulded, so it is produced in sheets, rods and tubes and must be worked manually.  Whimsical “cracked” pattern makes this piece unique. Closure is a screw clasp at back. Signed with stamp "Guillemette L'Hoir PARIS". On twisted wire, panels articulated. Some surface scratches.
